Ugly Mug Café & Coffee Roasters has been part of Seattle’s University District community since 1995, known for its warm atmosphere and connection to the neighborhood. The current owners—a wife and husband team who once worked part‑time at the shop as students—fell in love with the little café and eventually took it over. They created a micro roastery that curates and roasts only high quality beans from around the world, focusing on variety and complexity of flavours and roasting on demand to ensure freshness. CEO David Lee writes that he grew into appreciating well‑prepared coffee and now pursues the sophistication and interwoven flavours that a great cup can hold. As a small‑scale artisan roaster, Ugly Mug can concentrate on each batch, sampling coffees to select only the best and roasting them meticulously with precision. The business offers both retail and wholesale coffee and operates cosy café locations in Seattle’s U District and Interbay.
