Takamura Coffee Roasters

TAKAMURA began as a wine shop that wanted to offer coffee matching the quality of its food and wine. Noting similarities between wine and coffee—variety, terroir, processing—they set out to “select coffee like selecting wine,” applying wine-shop sensibilities to sourcing and roasting. They opened a roastery seven years ago, regularly purchase Cup of Excellence coffees, and have focused on competition and quality: staff have reached finals in the Japan Hand Drip Championship, placed 2nd in the Japan Coffee Roasting Championship (2018), and achieved strong results in Aeropress competitions. They are also developing direct relationships with producers. They use advanced equipment (Loring Smart Roaster) and emphasize careful roasting to express each origin’s characteristics, aiming to bring specialty coffee’s terroir and producer story to customers.
