The company pays sustainable base prices, provides incentives for quality, and invests in producer infrastructure to improve livelihoods. Founder Eileen Rinaldi opened the first Ritual café on Valencia Street after a life-changing espresso experience; she founded Ritual in 2005 and the business grew from a single café and small roaster into a multi-location roaster with a production roastery and training center in SoMa.
