About Herd Coffee Roaster
Herd Coffee Roaster, established in 2016 by Andri Hardian in Bandung, West Java, Indonesia, derives its name from the Kaldi legend, signifying its commitment to quality. The roastery's core philosophy revolves around educating consumers and democratizing specialty coffee through its distinctive branding. They employ a dual identification system for espresso coffees, using animal personalities (e.g., Black Sheep, White Rabbit) and specific colors (deep red, bright yellow) to convey flavor profiles. For filter coffees, neon color gradients translate tasting notes into intuitive visual cues. Herd Coffee Roaster adopts a tiered product strategy, initially focusing on Indonesian single-origin coffees to showcase local diversity, then expanding to international selections. This approach aims to redefine Indonesian coffee stereotypes. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, they launched "7 Days Coffee" drip bags, making specialty coffee accessible at home by eliminating the need for specialized equipment. Their overarching mission is to be a "salt and light" in the coffee community, elevating coffee from a commodity to a specialty product.
