About Yamabiko Coffee Roasters
Yamabiko Coffee Roasters was founded by Chris Shinn and Nahoko Nakada in the mountain town of Sutton, Quebec. The name, which means “echo in the mountain” in Japanese folklore, reflects the mountains that connect their lives. With a small team of passionate individuals they set out to create adventure, coffee and connection by obsessing over flavour and having fun. Their About page explains that Yamabiko is built on values of community, sustainability, quality and integrity. They support local farmers and artisans, source eco‑friendly beans and minimize waste, and roast weekly on a San Franciscan drum roaster to highlight each coffee’s unique characteristics. Café Yamabiko in Sutton serves their coffees and pastries, offering a welcoming space at the foot of a ski resort.
