About Skylark Coffee
Skylark Coffee is a fully transparent non-profit roastery that sources superb coffee for specialty businesses and individuals through savvy buying, roasting and relationships. They pay top specialty prices and donate profits to charities working on the margins, combining top-tier coffee with a non-profit model and aiming to reimagine every stage of the supply chain to be more just and interdependent. The project is led by project manager Micah Sherer, who has opened successful coffee businesses, managed teams across multiple countries, worked within supply chains to support producers in Africa and South America, researched power dynamics in coffee and competed as an elite barista. Overseer Ben Szobody, a former journalist and early coffee blogger, co-published Longberry magazine, contributed to James Hoffmann’s 'The World Atlas of Coffee' and founded Pro Baristas, training thousands of people. Their efforts operate under the charity umbrella of OCB Initiatives, part of One Church Brighton, and all profits support charitable projects.
