Handlebar Coffee was founded by former professional cyclists who "switched gears" in 2011 to focus on specialty coffee. The café and roasting company opened in November 2011 on East Canon Perdido Street in Santa Barbara. They roast 2–3 times weekly and purchase beans from Central & South America and Africa.
