Contraband Coffee began slinging beans in 2010 in the Bay Area. The team describes themselves as an unruly band of renegades and rebels who refuse to settle for the ordinary. They live and breathe coffee and are obsessed with the craft of roasting, continually tweaking profiles to tease out extra flavor, syrupy sweetness and superb aromas. They get excited about new coffee cherry fermentations and call their passion an insane devotion to quality. The roastery does things differently, breaking rules and blending unusual origins with a vintage Probat to achieve big, unexpected flavours. They strive for integrity in sourcing, working with small farmers and cooperatives to ensure transparency and sustainability. Contraband operates flagship cafés in San Francisco’s Nob Hill and SoMa neighbourhoods, offering high‑energy spaces where adventurous drinkers can explore bold, fruit‑forward coffees and innovative blends.
