Alinea Coffee Roasters roasts ethically sourced, small batch specialty coffees in New Orleans, Louisiana. The name comes from the ¶ symbol used to mark a new paragraph; the team sees their work as starting a new conversation about coffee origins and the journey beans take from sun‑dappled farms to your cup, exploring regional characteristics, processing methods and the importance of sustainability and ethical sourcing. Founder and head roaster Michael Matthews was born and raised in New Orleans and discovered a passion for specialty coffee while touring as a drummer. A revelatory shot of natural Ethiopian Harrar with notes of blueberry and vanilla inspired him to leave music and study coffee in depth. He launched Alinea in 2018, roasting a rotating selection of seasonal coffees and offering wholesale, barista training and a fully customizable espresso cart catering service for events in the New Orleans area.
