4LW Coffee
Four Letter Word (4LW) is a small coffee project born from childhood friendship and a shared love of coffee, design and community. Founded with a roastery and café on Burgaz Island (Istanbul) in 2013, it expanded to Chicago (The Plant/Back of the Yards) and later Logan Square, focusing on traceable sourcing, careful roasting, and a leisurely coffee experience.

Four Letter Word is a project brought forth by childhood friendship and a love for good coffee, good design and good people. A trip from Chicago to Istanbul led to a collaboration resulting in a coffee roastery and café on Burgaz Island (Istanbul) in 2013. The Fall of 2015 added a sister location in Chicago’s Back of the Yards at The Plant, and in September 2018 the first US retail location opened in Chicago's Logan Square/Avondale neighborhood. The roster has pursued residencies (e.g., Estereo FM in Fulton Market in 2023). They emphasize responsible sourcing with traceability, roasting that lets coffee speak for itself, and valuing leisurely, well-made cups.
