White Nene Coffee Roasters describes itself as a speciality coffee roasting company and purveyor of modern Hawaiian coffee founded in Kailua Kona. The team loves geeking out about coffee but sees coffee as a relational, shared experience rooted in aloha. They aim to be open, approachable and transparent, building relationships with local farmers, small businesses and the community to elevate Hawaiian coffee and empower the island’s coffee scene. The roastery views itself as an ambassador of aloha, promoting Hawaiian coffee while reflecting the aloha spirit. Owner and head roaster Mark Kove was born and raised in Kona; after a 2005 construction accident that partially paralyzed his legs, he pursued a career in coffee. Introduced to specialty coffee and latte art while living in South Korea, he became a licensed Q Arabica Grader and holds multiple SCA certifications. He roasts on a MillCity 3 kg and Ikawa50 Pro and works closely with local farmers to bring people together over great tasting Hawaiian coffee.
