About The Coffee Board

The Coffee Board focuses on East African specialty coffee and traces its roots to a family farm in Kenya’s Rift Valley. Since 1935 their land has been in the family and was developed into a coffee farm by matriarch Josephine in 1965. In 2009 Dr. Peter Kaarl and relatives formed a foundation to protect the land and ensure the farm’s social impact. In 2020 the family reclaimed the farm and now bring their own Kenyan specialty beans to Germany. Their goals include producing high‑quality coffee from their own farm, supporting social projects like Orphan’s Hope & Life Kenya, and being transparent across the value chain. They sell their coffees at weekly markets in Hamburg and through their online shop, inviting customers to share in their passion for East African coffee.
