About Sightglass Coffee
Sightglass began in 2009 as a small service cart in San Francisco’s SoMa district and expanded into the warehouse that became its production roastery, café, and company headquarters. The company name refers to the sightglass window on their vintage PROBAT roaster, reflecting their value of transparency in roasting. They focus on direct sourcing from growers, small‑batch roasting, and seasonally sourced single origins. Their approach emphasizes close relationships with producers, sustainable farming practices (including USDA‑organic coffees), and attention to detail in roasting so that each coffee’s story and quality is preserved. Sightglass operates thoughtfully designed neighborhood cafés (San Francisco and Los Angeles) that showcase their roasted coffees and community‑oriented spaces, and they offer wholesale, classes, catering, and guided education in addition to retail and subscriptions.
