About Second Love Coffee Roasters
Second Love Coffee began as a farmers market booth and pop-up before opening a permanent café and roastery in downtown Des Moines in 2023. They roast small batches of specialty coffee and serve creative drinks alongside locally sourced pastries in a stylish, welcoming space with outdoor seating. Co-founders Philip Mendoza and Scott Braaten built the roastery around ethical sourcing from small farms and radical transparency. Their name reflects their belief that the community is their first love and coffee is their second; they donate 2% of each sale to local charities and aim to cultivate community connections.
