Founded by Masahiko “Masa” Fumimoto and his partner Rie after years in Melbourne’s coffee scene, Mel Coffee Roasters opened on January 21 2016 in Shinmachi, Osaka. Their tiny 8 m² roastery and coffee bar roasts just enough beans on a vintage Probat for peak freshness. Inspired by Melbourne’s cafe culture and Japanese craftsmanship, the shop offers single‑origin beans, espresso, pour‑over and cold brew from a micro space where guests watch the roasting process. Mel Coffee has earned spots in Asia’s and the world’s best cafe lists for its passion, quality and innovation.
