Market Lane Coffee began in 2009 when coffee importer Fleur Studd and roaster Jason Scheltus opened a small shop and roastery in Prahran Market with the goal of making exceptional, ethically sourced coffee accessible in Melbourne. They built lasting relationships with growers and focused on roasting in small batches to highlight each coffee’s characteristics while maintaining transparency and traceability. Over the years the company has expanded to multiple cafés around the city, including Carlton, Collins Street, Mitchell House, Prahran Market, Queen Victoria Market and South Melbourne, while its roastery and headquarters remain in Brunswick East. Market Lane is B Corp certified and 100 % carbon neutral, and continues to champion sustainable practices, fair pricing for farmers and education through events and classes.
