About Kindred Coffee Roasters
Kindred Coffee Roasters began as an idea in 2013 when barista Ryan Hammer wanted to share excellent coffee with his community. With experience in Oakland, San Francisco and Chicago coffee scenes, he teamed up with his sister Sarah and brother‑in‑law Patrick to turn a foreclosed building in West Chicago into a welcoming coffee shop and micro‑roastery. Through the hard work and generosity of family, friends and neighbors, the dream became reality. Today the family‑owned business roasts fresh, ethically sourced beans on site and serves a menu of handcrafted espresso drinks, teas, and from‑scratch baked goods. Their café features a kids’ area, books and board games, fostering a warm atmosphere where locals can gather to study, play or relax. Kindred Coffee Roasters remains committed to community, hospitality and making each cup more delicious and interesting than the last.
