About Jolly Bean Roastery
Jolly Bean Roastery was born in the Calder Valley after founder Joel (with partner Lolly) decided to leave a corporate career to follow his love of coffee. The idea germinated during his university days in Leeds while visiting a café called The Bowery; years later he decided to create his own roastery in Saltaire. On their about page the team emphasises keeping things simple: ethically sourced coffee, roasted well to honour the farmers’ work. They point out that a coffee cherry takes eight months to ripen and only minutes to roast, so they roast light to let the bean’s natural acidity, body and sweetness shine. By keeping overheads low they aim to make rare and exotic coffees accessible to more people, sharing their passion from the heart of Yorkshire.
