Jaunt Coffee Roasters was founded in 2018 in San Diego around the idea that coffee should be a thoughtful experience, not a necessity. The roastery focuses on high-quality, ethically sourced beans roasted with care so customers can slow down and savor each cup. Coffee is described as a journey, and Jaunt positions itself as a guide. Founder and roaster Jimmy Silva started in coffee with Morning Bird Coffee (2014) and expanded his experience through travel—visiting specialty cafes in Europe and working on a coffee farm in Peru in 2016. His travels to Peru, Mexico, and Colombia led him to build direct relationships with producers and learn about production and processing techniques. Jaunt emphasizes quality, sustainability, and culture. The company is invested in learning about processing methods, quality control, and environmental practices observed on origin trips, and aims to teach customers about the journey from seed to cup, highlighting the work of farmers and pickers across the supply chain.
