Highwire Coffee Roasters was launched in 2011 by Rich Avella, Eric Hashimoto and Robert Myers in the Rockridge neighbourhood of Oakland. They envisioned a coffee company as a force for good, sourcing and roasting coffees with a balance of body, sweetness and origin character. The team promotes organic farming and sustainable practices, pursuing a straightforward goal of sharing the coffees they love with the community. Their approach centres on balance: not too light or dark but a harmonious cup that reflects both the farmer's signature and the roaster's craft. Highwire partners with people who care, fosters warm, welcoming service and has grown into multiple cafés across the Bay Area, serving coffee, tea and pastries while staying grounded in its East Bay roots.
