East Pole Coffee Co. is an Atlanta, Georgia–based specialty coffee roaster founded by friends Jared Karr and Jules Tompkins. Named after Karr's time in Indonesia, it roasts and serves coffee at its roastery and coffee bars, focusing on relationships and quality.
About East Pole Coffee Co.
East Pole Coffee Co. began after co ‑founder Jared Karr spent time in Indonesia working for an NGO and discovering coffee culture. Inspired by that 'East Pole' experience, he and friend Jules Tompkins started roasting in 2015 and named the company after the place where Karr first appreciated coffee origins. They developed a brand, product and wholesale channel and opened a flagship roastery and coffee bar at Armour Yards in Atlanta in 2017. A second bar opened in the Poncey‑Highland neighbourhood in 2022. East Pole emphasises cultivating relationships with producers, baristas and customers and sources coffees through direct relationships across the Americas and Africa.
