About Coyote Coffee Kyoto

Coyote Coffee grew from founder Yusuke Kadokawa’s experience living and working on coffee farms in El Salvador, where he learned to cultivate and process coffee alongside small producers. On returning to Japan he teamed up with brewer Terada to create Coyote, a roastery and café business whose concept is “between you and producer.” They import beans directly from El Salvador to highlight the stories of partner farmers and ensure clean, sustainable trade for both producers and consumers. The business began by selling beans but soon evolved into a café chain; their first shop, just outside Kyoto Station, introduced Japanese customers to Salvadoran coffee. They have since opened additional locations, including the wabi‑sabi‑inspired “the ordinary shop” and a dedicated roastery at Demachiyanagi. Kadokawa handles sourcing and roasting while Terada oversees brewing, allowing them to manage the journey from seed to cup. Through their cafés they aim to serve high‑quality coffee for daily life while encouraging curiosity about coffee’s origins.
