About Boxcar Coffee Roasters
Boxcar Coffee Roasters was started in 2010 by husband and wife team Vajra and Cara Rich with the goal of building a world‑class roasting company in their hometown of Boulder, Colorado. They began as a standalone roastery, partnering with local restaurants and cafés, then opened their first café and bakery on Pearl Street in downtown Boulder to showcase their coffees and share their forward‑thinking approach. Driven by Vajra’s obsession with quality, Boxcar developed the proprietary Boilermkr brewing method to overcome Colorado’s high altitude and bring out sweetness and clarity in the cup. Today the company operates two cafés, a bakery, and a wholesale program, sourcing seasonal coffees responsibly and training a team of skilled baristas and roasters to serve the Boulder community and beyond.
