Boon Boona Coffee

Boon Boona Coffee is a Seattle-born roaster and café group founded by Efrem Fesaha, inspired by Eritrean and Ethiopian coffee traditions. They source exclusively from African producers—prioritizing women-owned growers—operate multiple Seattle-area cafes, and center community, social impact, and traditional coffee ceremonies.

About Boon Boona Coffee

Boon Boona began with founder Efrem Fesahas connection to Eritrean coffee ceremony traditions and his desire to share East African coffee culture with Seattle. After a trip to Asmara and growing up between Eritrean family rituals and Seattle coffee culture, Efrem set out to create cafés that honor those traditions and community gatherings. The company focuses on ethical, Africa-exclusive sourcing, building long-term relationships with smallholder growers and cooperatives across Ethiopia, Rwanda, Burundi, Kenya and beyond. They emphasize supporting woman-owned growers and seeking new paths into underserved African coffee-growing regions. Boon Boonas cafés are designed as inclusive community spaces that host artists, nonprofits, and local small businesses; the Renton location offers an Ethiopian/Eritrean coffee ceremony where pan-roasted green beans are brewed in a traditional vessel.
