About Anomalous Coffee Roasters
Anomalous Coffee Roasters was founded by Scott Price, a veteran of the coffee industry and actor/director in New York City. After decades spent as a barista, trainer and manager since the late 1990s, he pivoted fully into roasting in 2020 when pandemic shutdowns halted film productions. Price took over the roasting operations at MUD Coffee in NYC and launched Anomalous that summer, aiming to explore coffees that deviated from the ordinary. Drawing on his creative background, he treats each release like a film project: the company offers subscribers one curated coffee a month, each selected for its rarity, distinctive cultivar and processing method, with detailed stories about the producers. The roastery emphasizes small-batch roasting, ethical sourcing and showcasing innovative coffees. The name ‘Anomalous’ reflects a mission to find coffees that depart from the norm, allowing drinkers to experience rare and exotic flavors.
